About

The inter-university centre is based at the Department of History, Heritage, Education and Society of Tor Vergata University of Rome and the Department of Education and Human Sciences of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

Its aim is to propose and coordinate research and studies of a multi and interdisciplinary nature on the themes of digital education and heritage, with particular reference to the promotion of critical thinking, with a view to supporting the social role of the museum as an instrument of cultural well-being and participation.

The Centre is developed by a close connection between new teaching methodologies and the use of innovative digital tools in order to develop transversal competences in all users of cultural heritage, especially the socially disadvantaged, and to strengthen channels and tools in the area of cultural mediation.

The foundation of the Centre is based on the idea that the preservation, valorisation and promotion of cultural heritage play a pivotal role in the well-being (Chatterjee & Noble, 2013, Chatterjee & Kador 2020) and economic development of territorial productive activities and the social system in general, particularly when realised through digital technologies and related applications, with a view to facilitating the availability and critical use of digital skills.

Promoting an international comparison, the Centre aims to integrate theoretical investigations with the production and experimentation of concrete educational paths or, more generally, scientific communication initiatives, also in view of a fruitful synergy between different institutions in territorial, national and international contexts.
