Overview

By encouraging the international debate in the field, the Centre aims to integrate theoretical studies and scientific communication initiatives with the production and experimentation of actual educational programmes, in order to promote a fruitful synergy between different institutions on the local, national and international level. Furthermore, in order to achieve its own institutional aims the Centre:

  • promotes and carries out highly specialized studies in the field of museum and heritage teaching and learning, e-learning, digital learning and critical thinking in formal and informal educational contexts
  • applies innovative technologies when carrying out pedagogical studies in the field of heritage teaching, learning and skills enhancement
  • promotes technological development in the field of formal and informal teaching, aiming at developing critical thinking skills and promoting artistic and cultural heritage
  • submits national, European and international research project proposals in order to secure funding for the Centre’s studies
  • promotes researchers’ and students’ education in the fields of heritage and digital learning to enhance critical thinking skills and cultural inclusion
  • develops undergraduate and postgraduate multidisciplinary education (II level University Post graduate Course, training and professional development courses) in the field of methodologies and technologies for teaching, communication and the enhancement of artistic and cultural heritage
  • coordinates synergic initiatives developed at the Centre and carries out coordination activities with the main teaching, organizational and research structures of the university;
  • oversees the circulation of the Centre’s research and promotes national and international discussion on its results
  • offers technological services for the teaching of heritage and critical thinking
  • makes arrangements with public and private bodies in order to promote the Centre’s expertise
  • develops partnership and start-up initiatives for the application and technological transfer of the Centre’s research
  • promotes the development and the application of innovative technologies in heritage and critical thinking educational studies, as well as training of researchers in this field
  • carries out consultancy work for public and private bodies.
